My Miata, being made in 2002, lacked an auxiliary input. Thanks to some soldering and a product called the Auxmod, it now does.

That’s the exact mod I did on Mrs McMikes 2003 Civic. I also made sure I drilled the imput into a piece that was replaceable.
Except for the fact that her modulator had RCA imputs.

One of these days, I want to do something like this to the ’Murlequin. It only has AM/FM and a tape deck.

Cool. I’m going to see it that will work for my 99.

That is exactly what I had in mind! I’d drill mine in a different spot but otherwise that’s the setup I’ll go for when the tape deck dies.
Edit: What’d you do with your tape deck?

There’s a ton of bracing for some reason behind that plastic, so there were only so many places I could drill.
I still have the tape deck. Dunno what I’ll do with it.

My Chevelle (‘71) has a simple AM radio in it. A few years back I pulled it out, did some circuit-looking-at, and figured out where the signal went from the AM demodulator to the actual audio amp and spliced into that on a switch. Now with the switch in one position, it’s factory AM radio (and the ignition coil firing), in the other position it’s an aux in.
Yeah I should use some shielded wire for it but I’ve not had any issues with noise. It’s not a very high fidelity system anyways :)
